Stress has become a daily companion for most of us. That doesn’t have to be the case, says Su Busson. The systemic consultant, matrix trainer and yoga teacher from Vienna explains in her new book “” stress-free. Truths for a life in flow “”, how to avoid stress in the first place. In an interview with news.at, she gives a foretaste of it.

Ms. Busson, you mention that there is no “wrong” in life, therefore: How can you tell that you are not approaching your life optimally? What are the first warning signs? From the highest perspective and with the awareness that everything is one, there is no such thing as “right” and “wrong” and everything is perfect as it is. From our usual, human perspective, things often look very different.

Typical warning signs: stress. Frustration. Resistance. Pressure. Stagnation.helpme123 customer service Cramp and constant struggle. These are all signs that we are cut off from the natural flow of life and are on a low level of consciousness. The life force, the joy, the lightness and the miracles decrease. We are restless inside and act or react out of fear instead of being clear in our heads and being inspired to act. Very human, but not optimal.

Keyword “optimal”: Isn’t the pursuit of constant improvement up to perfectionism one of the biggest stress traps? Absolutely. This is precisely why we stress and block ourselves. Just thinking how it should be, we overlook how perfect it is. The best version of ourselves and the beauty of life come to light when we stop striving for ideals and reconnect with the deepest part of us – I like to call this part flow self. This part is always stress-free, intact and perfect. We can build on this “foundation”, grow naturally and develop our own potential. And we can also deal with any problems and challenges much better – free from stress and fear.

You start your book very pragmatically and stay that way for a long time until you take a comparatively almost spiritual path towards the end. Conscious stylistics to lure skeptics or just happened? I don’t want to bait anyone. Rather, in this book I would like to offer a holistic view of the subject of stress. And I’m a fan of pragmatic spirituality – of spirituality that is relevant in everyday life. The awareness that everything is one and we are an expression of one and the same universal source is extremely helpful in being able to relax in the here and now and make the best of our existence.

However, this awareness does not change the fact that we are in a human body and are therefore subject to limitations and often feel separate from the rest of the world instead of all-one. That’s where the stress begins. Both by remembering who we really are and by understanding how our physical vehicle works, we can naturally save ourselves a lot of restlessness.

You often go into the “head cinema” – are there people who can control it and how much sense does it make to want to control your thoughts? Controlling thoughts doesn’t work and usually makes your head even more restless. Most of the thinking happens unconsciously, beyond our control. Even conscious thought processes precede unconscious ones.

And what really counts, what we are really looking for and need, is always there “” behind “”, “” under “”, “” in front of “” thinking anyway. However, as long as we are busy with WHAT and HOW we think, we overlook who we really are. Behind all thoughts is pure being. In this state there is no fear, no worry, and no stress. Without thinking there is no problem. Here we find unshakable peace and our natural wellbeing and thus the best starting point for our lives.

How long did it take you to find your flow? Flow is not a state that we find once and never lose. In truth, flow is a state that is always there. However, we tend to overlay this state with the monkey circus in our head, yogis call it “Monkey Mind”. It’s very human; and I’m an ordinary person. That means, I’m not always in the flow either.

I just forget less and less what is in truth always present in us. Even when the waves hit the surface, there is still a part of me that is calm and relaxed about it. If I don’t find access to this part right now, I know that I am currently only on a lower level of consciousness and that I cannot trust my thinking at the moment. And, I know that will change again. Just as the weather changes and thick clouds clear again.

“Flow is our factory setting, our natural state”

Can you say how fast it takes people on average to find their flow? Everyone knows this condition and experiences it – consciously or unconsciously – regularly. Most, however, associate this state with certain situations, activities or framework conditions. It seems that flow is something of a state of emergency and that we should strive to find our way into flow. For a long time I did not know that this state is in truth always there and appears at the moment when the head comes to rest – no matter why. Flow is our factory setting, our natural state, and it is part of the human “game” to temporarily forget it. So it’s not about finding, but about remembering what lives in us. It can happen at any moment.

A core theory in the book is that stress comes from the individual and not from outside. Does that really apply to everyone? To make a very stark contrast: how can this be maintained, for example, with traumatized victims of crime or violence in the family? I wouldn’t say that stress comes from the individual himself. With this statement, most immediately feel guilty and even more stressed out. But yes, stress doesn’t come from the outside. The core theory in the book is that stress is caused by momentary thoughts. Stressful thoughts cause stress. What is more, we always feel our thinking and not our life. The medium of thinking produces our individual experience of reality. It’s just part of being human. As I said, we cannot consciously control our thinking. But we can see that there are “only” thoughts and that there is more to them.

To be specific, let’s take your example: Of course, things can happen in the past that catch up with us in the present. But even traumatic experiences do not change the fact that a part of you – your true essence – is indestructible, whole and whole. That doesn’t mean that you are always fine in the here and now. In a flashback, for example, you feel transported back into a traumatic situation. However, you never experience the past and the situation itself, but your thinking in this moment – in this case memories from the past. The past does not exist, we only ever experience the present moment. That’s the truth. So that it is clear: That doesn’t change anything that we sometimes have to work through traumatic experiences so that such flashbacks stop.

But your thinking and thus your inner experience changes much faster and more often than your external circumstances or even your past change. One minute you can be stressed, the next confident and relieved, even though everything on the outside is the same.

In addition to your book, you offer personalized solutions against stress: What are the advantages of personalized solutions compared to general guides? The subtitle of my book is “Truths for a Flowing Life.” It sets out principles that are universal and hopefully creates a practical understanding of what it means to be human. But with all the similarities that unite us, everyone is unique. Just as there are roses, tulips, lilies and edelweiss, we also differ from one another. As part of coaching, it is possible to look at personal talents, strengths, but also traps and see where the head causes restlessness and stress, and above all, how this can be changed in a tailor-made way.
